Papua New Guinea
When the Dutch left Indonesia they created a regional superstate with no real reason to exist. Since then, the Javanese have dominated the other cultural groups in the area, exploiting them and their land. New Guinea (or Papua), a culturally diverse but socially homogenous island, was left divided between Indonesia in the West and Australia in the East. East Papua is now independent, but West Papua continues to be ruled as a colony of Java. The  following sites provide more information about the island, the culture, and the struggle.
